EXHIBITS
SOUTHEAST MUSEUM OF PHOTOGRAPHY - The SMP offers interactive and rotating exhibits in the Mori Hosseini Center, Bldg. 1200. Admission to the Museum is free. All events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise noted. Museum hours: 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Wednesdays and weekends from 1 to 5 p.m. 386-506-4475. All discussions are wheelchair-accessible. Information is also available at www.smponline.org Through May 7, "Bikeriders" - Danny Lyon. This photographic study from 1963 of the Chicago Outlaws Motorcycle gang marked a new direction for photojournalism and documentary photography. "Bikeriders" has influenced subsequent generations of photographers and is a masterful illustration of a unique American subculture.
Al sol - Stella Johnson. Graceful and compassionate portrait studies of simple rural life in Africa and Central America. " Through May 30, "Double Exposure: African-American Before and Behind the Camera." A showcase of vintage photographs from the Amistad Center for Art & Culture's historical collection of art and artifacts with photo-based art by contemporary African-American artists. This landmark exhibition comprehensively explores the African-American experience. It highlights African-American history, as well as the history of photography.
Summer Photo Camps for children aged 8-11 and 12-15 begin June 14. Campers will learn a broad spectrum of photo tips and tricks, as well as have the chance to improve their picture-taking skills. On the final day of each weekly camp, kids and their parents are invited to attend our special "It's a Wrap" party, where work created during will be showcased. Three sessions of camps will be held: June 14-17; June 21-24; and June 28- July 1. Camps are Mondays through Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $185 per session. Call 506-4569.

GOOD EATS
CAFÉ 101 - Café 101 is a teaching café and kitchen operated by Daytona State College students, under the supervision of our chef instructors. Café 101, highly rated by the Daytona Beach News-Journal, is open for lunch Monday through Friday with seating times of 11:30 a.m. or noon and dinner on Wednesday evenings with seating times of 5:30 or 6 p.m. Café 101 features a fixed-price menu of $11 for lunch and $15 for dinner (including tax). Patrons receive an appetizer, entree, dessert and beverage. Vegetarian meals are available by request. Gratuities are welcome and help fund student scholarships. Credit cards are accepted. FALCON SNACK SHOPS - There are two campus locations, the coffee and snack bars can be found in the Allied Health Bldg. 320 and adjacent to the Academic Support Center, Bldg. 500. They are open 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays, closing at 1 p.m. Fridays. The Building 320 location is also open 4:30- 7 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays. Serving baked goods, fresh fruit, Starbuck's coffee and more.
CHRISTOPHER BEAN - Fresh-baked goodies and coffee by Volusia's own Christopher Bean is now served from morning to early afternoon in the foyer of the Mori Hosseini Center, Bld. 1200.
SUNDAY BRUNCH - May 30, 11 a.m-2 p.m. at Café 101. Prepared and served by students in our Hospitality and Culinary programs, the menu consists of a variety of traditional and creative brunch-buffet items including some breakfast favorites. IT'S 5:30 SOMEWHERE - May 8, 7:30 p.m., performances by Eleven O'Clock & Four O'Clock Bands The culmination of a semester-long course in the contemporary performance aspects of modern rock, pop, blues and country music. The group will perform selections chosen by the class and will stage the concert to emulate a modern touring show production. AUDITIONS - May 10-11.The DSC School of Music, Entertainment and Art announces auditions for "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead," a retelling of Shakespeare's "Hamlet" written by Tom Stoppard. In the J. M. Goddard Center (Bldg. 230) on the Daytona Beach Campus, Monday, May 10, at 7 p.m. and Tuesday, May 11 at 7 p.m. Come prepared to improvise and do cold readings. Production dates are June 22-27 in the Gillespy Theater at the News-Journal Center, Call 506-4607.
SUPERSTARS & CASH - May 10 deadline for application. Competition is May 19. The College's Foundationis teaming up with SuperStars of Central Florida to host auditions for the SuperStars 2010 Performing Arts Talent Competition on Saturday, May 15 at the College's J.M. Goddard Theater (Bldg. 230) on the Daytona Beach Campus. SuperStars of Central Florida is a talent competition open to all Central Florida students ages 12 to 18. Students may audition as soloists or as an ensemble in voice, instrumental music, dance or the dramatic arts. Audition fees apply and are payable to SuperStars of Central Florida: solo fee is $20; ensemble fee $40. Judges from the School of Music, Entertainment, and Art, along with professionals from the performing arts communities of Central Florida will select 32 students to compete in the semi-finals on Sept. 11 in the College's Theater Center (Bldg. 220) also on the Daytona Beach Campus.
Four winners from each solo and/or performing arts area will compete in the SuperStars Final, scheduled for, Oct. 2, at the News-Journal Center located in downtown Daytona Beach. First-place prize winner receives $1,500; second place $1,000; and third place winner $500.

TICKET INFORMATION - All Volusia County students can get a complimentary ticket, including DBCC, Embry-Riddle, Stetson, Bethune-Cookman, as well as high school, middle school and elementary students. School ID is required. Students can come the night of the event and if there are tickets available they will get one free of charge.

To order by phone or for information, call 386-506-3042 during box office hours, 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. There is no service fee to use major credit cards, but there is a $10 minimum on phone orders.
Tickets also are available one hour before every event at the venue where it is being held, either the News-Journal Center or the Theater Center (Bldg. 220) or Goddard Center (Bldg. 230) on the College's Daytona campus.
