Men's basketball review

What the 2008-09 Daytona State College men's basketball team lacks in experience it makes up for in size. Few teams can match the pair of seven-footers that the Falcons bring to the court this season.
Jeremy Grimball, a 7'0 sophomore transfer from Trinity Valley, joins 7'1 freshman Reginald Gilbert to create an intimidating lineup.
Second-year head coach Anthony Andre is looking to build on last year's 9-21 record, which was an improvement from the 2006-07 season, when the Falcons won only six games.
All-Conference guard Walt Torrance Jr. is the Falcons' only returning player from last season. A local talent from Atlantic High School, Torrance is joined by former Atlantic teammate Antonio Tarver. Tarver and Torrance led Atlantic to the state Final Four during the 2006-07 season. Sophomore Rashad Hall, also a local product, joins the Falcons out of Seabreeze High School.
"We think that we can have a good season. We have a great group of talented, hard-working young players," said assistant coach Courtney Robinson.
The Falcons open their season Oct. 31 at home against Miami Dade College. Conference play begins at home on Jan. 14 against St. Johns River Community College.
