DBCC students, faculty and staff were shocked at the April 7 death of a campus mainstay, Evelyn "Beth" Higgs, who died of heart failure at the age of 50. Only two nights before, she had volunteered her time during the college's Open House on the Daytona campus.

SGA elections took place late last month after a few postponements, due to the lack of participation from the student body. But as candidates came forward, the campus slowly was covered in posters and signs, most of which said "One Vote, One Jane."
Some may not have known who Jane was or much about her campaign, but they soon found out.

In the past 30 years, illiteracy rates have gone down from approximately 40 to 20 percent. Regardless of the decrease, continents such as Africa continue to suffer from a lack of education and illiteracy rates increase every year.

SUBHED: ASC getting positive results
The Academic Support Center recently released its first ASC Student Performance Report since moving into its new, state-of-the-art headquarters in Bldg. 500. Of more than 200 college credit and preparatory courses represented in study, which covers Fall 2006, there were virtually across the board increases in students' success rates after visiting the center.
